The Night
Shooting a concert is the opposite of a set. You get no say in the light, no say in where you stand, and no say in when the thing you want to photograph happens. You get one position in a crowd and whatever the lighting desk decides to do next.
So the approach is to stop fighting it. Shoot wide open, let the grain come, and treat the haze and the beam as the subject rather than a problem sitting in front of the subject.
The frames that work are rarely the ones of the artist. They are the silhouettes in front of you, the hands going up a half second before the drop, the pyro lighting the back of a stranger's head.
Shot handheld, pushed hard, and left as it came out. The noise is the point.
